A edição de 2017 dos Billboard Music Awards (BMA) decorreu este domingo em Las Vegas. A cerimónia, mais conhecida pelas atuações do que propriamente pelos prémios, revelou-se uma celebração da nostalgia com nomes como Cher e Celine Dion a pisarem o palco da T-Mobile Arena.
Drake roubou o espetáculo da noite passada, com o sucesso de “Views”, ao levar para casa 13 prémios da Billboard (batendo o recorde de Adele para mais prémios ganhos numa noite: 12). Não faltou nem uma atuação no centro da mítica fonte Bellagio. Também os prémios de “Melhor Artista de Vendas” e os de tops (Top 100, Top 200, Top Albúns) foram para o cantor e compositor, que dividou e conquistou as estatuetas com Beyoncé, ainda a aproveitar o sucesso de “Lemonade”.
Cher recebeu o prestigiado Prémio de Ícone, com uma atuação em tudo nostálgica, das plumas aos macacões de látex. Um dia depois de celebrar 71 anos, a artista levou ao palco dos BMA temas tão intemporais como “Believe” e “If I Could Turn Back Time”, numa prestação energética e, claro, com mudanças de looks, ou não estívessemos a falar de uma das artistas mais camaleónicas da música pop. “Desde os quatro anos que quero fazer o que faço, e já o faço há 53 anos”, confessou ao ser homenageada.
A cerimónia cumpriu à risca as três horas programadas, como era de esperar, em atuações e entregas de prémios, deixando de lado as peripécias e conflitos pessoais (cada vez mais frequentes neste tipo de eventos). Foram 15 as atuações ao vivo, que contemplaram géneros do hip-hop ao pop, e da eletrónica ao country. Nicki Minaj abriu a noite com um medley do seu tema “No Frauds”, na companhia de Lil Wayne, David Guetta e Jason Derulo.
Também Camila Cabello e Miley Cyrus pisaram o palco em Las Vegas, para estrearem os seus novos singles: Cabello a dar os seus primeiros passos em “Crying In The Club” desde que se separou do grupo Fifth Harmony, e Cyrus a revelar uma sonoridade tingida de country com “Malibu”. Foi então a vez de Lorde montar uma noite de karaoke com “Green Light”, antes de Sam Hunt e John Legend tomarem o palco com “Body Like a Back Road” e “Surefire” e de a apresentadora, Vanessa Hudgens, se aventurar a cantar Celine Dion em acapella.
Falando em Celine Dion, a diva ajudou à festa da nostalgia com o tema “My Heart Will Go On” a celebrar 20 anos desde a sua estreia, no filme Titanic. A atuação da artista canadiana foi um dos momentos mais marcantes da noite.
Também o vocalista dos Soundgarden e dos Audioslave, Chris Cornell, que morreu na semana passada, foi homenageado com um minuto de silêncio. Assim se passa uma noite na companhia dos maiores nomes da música norte-americana. Confira em baixo os principais vencedores da noite passada.
