Frank Ocean teve um ano tremendo e 2013 pode ser ainda melhor. O Vocalista e compositor do Odd Future lidera com seis nomeações nos 55 º Grammy Awards.
Artistas masculinos dominaram as indicações para a edição de 2013 do prêmio Grammy, anunciadas na quarta-feira à noite, com destaque para fun., Frank Ocean, Mumford & Sons, Jay-Z, Kanye West e Dan Auerbach, da banda The Black Keys, que concorrem em seis categorias cada um.
A banda nova-iorquina de indie-pop fun., formada por Nate Ruess, Andrew Dost e Jack Antonoff, recebeu indicações nas importantes categorias de melhor gravação, canção e álbum do ano, e de melhores novos artistas.
O fun., que se apresentou na cerimônia de indicação ao lado de Janelle Monae, emplacou um enorme sucesso com seu single de estreia, “We Are Young”, complementado pelo álbum “Some Nights” e pelo single homônimo.
O rapper Ocean, de 25 anos, também concorre nas categorias de álbum, gravação e novo artista. Neste ano, ele chamou a atenção, num gênero marcado pelo machismo e a homofobia, por ter declarado que já se apaixonou por um homem.
O cobiçado troféu de artista revelação está sendo disputado também pelo grupo de blues-rock Alabama Shakes, pelo cantor country Hunter Hayes e pela banda de folk-rock The Lumineers. A cerimônia de entrega do principal prêmio da música mundial acontecerá em 10 de fevereiro, em Los Angeles, com transmissão pela TV. Estavam aptos a disputar as indicações artistas com trabalhos lançados entre 1o de outubro de 2011 e 30 de setembro de 2012.
Depois do domínio da britânica Adele na edição do ano passado, os homens tomaram conta da disputa pelo troféu de álbum do ano em 2012. Além de Ocean e do fun., concorrem também The Black Keys, Mumford & Sons e Jack White.
Kelly Clarkson foi uma das poucas artistas femininas a conseguir várias indicações (três), incluindo gravação do ano e melhor álbum vocal pop.
A cantora Rihanna também disputa três categorias, inclusive melhor apresentação pop solo, por “Where Have You Been”.
Depois de ganhar seis Grammys em fevereiro, inclusive nas três principais categorias, Adele emplacou apenas uma indicação, de melhor apresentação solo pop. Isso ocorreu porque ela não lançou novos trabalhos no período exigido.
As indicações para as principais categorias foram anunciadas pela primeira vez em um show televisivo de uma hora, realizado em Nashville, com apresentação da cantora Taylor Swift e do rapper e ator LL Cool J, um veterano mestre de cerimônias do Grammy.
Foi anunciado também que a banda The Who receberá em fevereiro um Grammy especial pelo conjunto da obra.
